Culpeper County High School is proud to announce the hiring of Mason Sherry as the new Head Football Coach of the Blue Devils football program.

Coach Sherry most recently served as interim head coach during the 2025 season after former head coach Eric Sherry had to step away due to medical reasons. In his interim role, Coach Sherry led the Blue Devils to a historic season, including the program’s first winning regular-season record in more than 20 years, a No. 2 regional ranking, and a decisive home playoff victory over Goochland High School. The team advanced to the regional semifinals, marking one of the most successful seasons in school history.

Prior to stepping into the interim head coaching role, Coach Sherry served as the offensive coordinator for Culpeper County High School for three seasons. Under his leadership, the Blue Devils offense broke multiple school records, scored 50 touchdowns in a single season, and produced numerous all-district, all-region, and all-state players.

In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Coach Sherry is a classroom educator at Culpeper County High School, where he teaches English. He holds Virginia teaching certifications in English and Health and Physical Education. Coach Sherry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Juniata College in Pennsylvania and a Master of Arts in Secondary.

“Coach Sherry has demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment to our student-athletes, and a deep understanding of what it means to build a successful program both on and off the field,” said CCHS Athletic Director, Daniel Nobbs. “We are excited to see the continued growth of Blue Devils football under his leadership.”

Coach Sherry’s coaching philosophy emphasizes accountability, positive relationships, and the development of student-athletes as leaders in the classroom, on the field, and in the community.

Culpeper County High School looks forward to the future of the Blue Devils football program under Coach Sherry’s leadership.
