“I wished I had learned about taxes in high school.” Did you know ALL Virginia public school students are required to learn about personal finance before graduating? Culpeper Schools doesn’t stop there. We also require each student to prepare a resume and cover letter, apply for a job, and participate in a mock interview. We loved seeing our students all dressed up and ready to interview this week! #bettereveryday

Many thanks to CCPS for another exceptional cohort of English Language Learners who completed the Groundwork Project yesterday. These 12 students completed the 8-week career & leadership development program by interviewing with 4 local businesses, developing a professional portfolio, earning the American Heart Association pediatric & adult CPR certification, and mapping out a personal career path. Staff from Verdun led bilingual team-building and leadership activities while the Rappahannock Goodwill team provided career navigation and coaching. We’re very grateful for this continued partnership. #BDP #BetterEveryDay

Congratulations to Mrs. Hyde and the leadership students for their video placing 2nd in the 2023 VSBA High School Student Video Contest!

The Virginia School Boards Association’s (VSBA) 12th annual student video contest challenged high school students across Virginia to create a 30-second video centered around the theme “We Are Better United Than Divided.” The first, second and third place winners, selected out of 21 submissions, were announced today at the opening general session of the VSBA Annual Convention in Williamsburg, VA, and the videos were shown to the convention’s attendees. This year’s contest was sponsored by Haney Phinyowattanachip.
The contest gave students an opportunity to create thought-provoking videos individually, in a small group, or as a class project. Videos were judged on how well they addressed the topic, the quality of the production of the video, as well as the depth of thought and creativity of the video. The contest was open to Virginia public high school students and one entry per school division was accepted.
